RECAP: Knights blanked by Sting; Snap five-game unbeaten streak

After clinching an OCAA playoff spot for the first time in five seasons, the Niagara College women's soccer (3-3-2, 4th Central) program had little time to celebrate.  Riding a five-game unbeaten streak, the Knights went on the road to face the defending OCAA champions, the Seneca Sting (4-2-2, 3rd Central).

Just like in their previous matchup, Seneca forward Mariam El-Masri started the game with a goal.  Unfortunately for Niagara, they had no answer for number 11; as El-Masri went on to score three more goals in the match, giving her nine total on the season.

"We were struggling to move the ball amongst ourselves and kept getting caught out of position," said fifth-year head coach Frank DeChellis.  "It took a while before we were able to string together more than three passes in a row."

Rebecca Morrison (Erin) and Natalie Semenuk (Pelham) had a solid 90 minutes for Niagara despite the loss.

"You can always count on Becca and Natalie playing hard and giving you everything they've got," commented coach DeChellis.

With two games remaining in the OCAA regular season, the Knights will head out on the road for their last road game October 17th to face George Brown College.
