RECAP: Knights earn draw against Huskies

RECAP: Knights earn draw against Huskies

On a cold, rainy, weekend afternoon, the Niagara College women's soccer (3-3-3, 4th Central) program went on the road to play their final road game of the 2015 OCAA regular season.  This matchup saw the Knights face the George Brown Huskies (1-6-2, 5th Central), a program that has given up the second most points in the Central division.

Despite a one-sided box score and all the statistics lined up in Niagara's favour, the Knights were unable to get the ball passed the Huskies goalkeeper.  The game ended in in 0-0 tie and both teams earned one point in the standings.

Second-year forward/goalkeeper Brittany Haanappel (Niagara Falls) started in net for Niagara, replacing injured Jenna Vasiliaskis (Burlington).  Haanapel turned aside three Huskie shots to record her first clean sheet this season, third for the Knights this year.

"I won't say I wasn't disappointed with the result," said head coach Frank DeChellis.  "But I am happy two of our injured players are getting back to 90-minute form, just in time for playoffs."

The Knights outshot the Huskies 16-3.

Up next for the Knights is the 2015 OCAA regular season finale.  Niagara will host the University of Toronto-Mississauga Eagles on October 20 at Youngs SportsPlex.  Kick-off is scheduled for 4:00pm.
