The Niagara Knights women's basketball program advances to this year's OCAA championship in Etobicoke, Ontario after an impressive 61-52 victory over the East Division Loyalist Lancers. This year's championships are being hosted by Humber College, and will be housed out of the Humber College Athletic Centre from March 2nd to March 4th.
Niagara started the game off in impressive fashion, outscoring their opponent 18-9. Knights' 1st year guard Hannah Baker (Fonthill, Ont.) led her program's early offensive charge with 8 points. The Knights would continue to outscore the visiting Lancers in the second quarter, ending the half up 30-17.
The third quarter saw the Knights' defense struggle, giving up a game-high 22 points to keep the Lancers' playoff hopes alive. Niagara would find their offence rythem in the fourth and final frame, outscoring Loyalist 20-12 to seal the 61-52 victory.

"It was a day where we didn't score like we had been, but as always defence and rebounding won the day," said Knights' head coach Mike Beccaria. "We rebounded very well in the second half and met our defensive goals in three of the four quarters."
The Knights are back in action Friday, March 2nd when they open their OCAA Championship journey against the East Division leading George Brown Huskies. Tip off is set for 6pm.
