RECAP: Knights move to 2-0 with sweep of Saints

The Niagara Knights women's volleyball (2-0, 2nd OCAA West) is off to a 2-0 regular season start after a 3-0 (25-15, 25-14, 25-18) victory over the St. Clair Saints on October 30th.

There was no bus legs for the Knights after the four hour trip to Windsor, as the Knights controlled the match throughout. It was a team effort for Niagara who served well with eight aces, and defended well with 48 digs. Libero Kennisis VanSoelen (Orangeville) paced the Knights on the defensive side of the net with 15 digts to her credit.

Offensively Bailey Davis (Georgetown) distributed the ball extremely well, recording 27 assists. Rachel Rivers (Cambridge) made her return to the lineup after an offseason injury, leading the way with 10 kills.

"It was definitely a complete team effort today," said Head Coach Nathan Janzen. "I was impressed with our consistency from start to finish, especially as we rotated multiple lineups throughout the match."

Niagara's next match will serve as their home opener for the 2016-17 OCAA season. The Mohawk Mountaineers will visit the Welland Campus Athletic Centre on November 4th at 6pm. Tickets for all home games can be purchased at the door for $5.00 while students and those under the age of 17 are admitted free.
