For the second consecutive home court match the Niagara College women's volleyball program came from behind and captured a hard fought five set victory. The Knights defeated the visiting Sheridan Bruins 18-25, 28-26, 15-25, 25-17, 15-12 in front of a large crowd as part of #MakeSomeNoise for Mental Health night. The win moves the Knights to 14-3 on the season.
After dropping the opening set, the Knights trailed 24-20 late in the second frame. Second year OCAA West scoring leader Jordan Koslowski took to the service line and served five straight points to claw the Knights back from the brink of a two-set hole. The Knights took the set, and eventually pulled out the thrilling five-set win. Koslowski, finished with a match high 19 points a 14 kills and five aces.
"I think we battled together as a team tonight. It would have been easy to quit today, but multiple people stepped up under stress and willed us to the victory" said Niagara Knights women's volleyball head coach Nathan Janzen. "I thought Bailey Davis played one of her best games of the season. She did a lot of things that really show her development as a setter."
Davis, a third year native of Georgetown finished with 30 assists bringing her OCAA leading total to 434.
The Knights have just one game remaining in the OCAA regular season, a February 15th matchup against the Redeemer Royals at the Welland Athletic Centre. The event will serve as the annual Niagara Knights Volleyball grad night, an event that will see all graduating members of the program honoured prior to the first serve.
Janzen continued "up next we play Redeemer on Wednesday. It's grad night so it will be an exciting and emotional game."
First serve is set for 6:00pm.
