PREVIEW: Niagara welcomes Condors, look to maintain perfect record

They're only four games into the OCAA regular season, but the Niagara Knights women's volleyball program (4-0, 1st OCAA West) is right where they want to be. The Knights will look to maintain the perfect start to the season when they welcome the Conestoga Condors (0-4, 9th OCAA West) to the Welland Campus Athletic Centre.

The Condors have struggled out of the gate, remaining winless through their first four matches of the season. All-time the Knights hold an 11-3 record in 14 previous matches, including victories in four straight matches dating back to the 2013-14 season.

Niagara is no stranger to starting the season off on streak. They started the 2014-15 season with a 6-0 record, and the 2015-16 season with a 5-1 record. Both are seasons in which the Knights finished, winning OCAA medals in each of those two seasons. At the moment, the Knights are one of only two teams in the OCAA's West Division without a loss, joining the defending OCAA champion Humber Hawks (3-0, 4th OCAA West) as the division's two undefeated teams.

The Knights, ranked 11th in the latest CCAA National Rankings, want to continue the early momentum against the Condors. Niagara's early season success has been bolstered by an extremely balanced attack throughout the lineup.

Three Knights are currently ranked in the top 15 in league scoring. Brooklyn Hamilton (Valleview, AB) leads the way in 12th overall with 3.6 points per set. Jordan Koslowski (Hamilton) and Linnea Davis (Brampton) round out the trio in 15th, each averaging 3.1 points per set. The trio have been consistently set by Bailey Davis (Georgetown) throughout the season. Davis sits in second in the OCAA with 8.47 assists per set.

The opening serve for Thursday's match is scheduled for 6pm. Tickets can be purchased at the door for $5 while students and those under the age of 17 are admitted free. For those unable to make it to Welland the game will be broadcast live at www.goknights.ca/watchlive courtesy of the Niagara College Broadcast, Radio, Television, and Film program.
