Coming off their first win of the season, the Niagara College men's basketball (1-2, 6th West) program will be hosting the Fanshawe Falcons (2-1, 3rd West) on Friday, November 7th.
The Knights defeated the St. Clair Saints (1-2, 7th West) 96-79 behind the 20 point, 9 rebound effort of first year forward Delroy Grandison (Kingston, JA). Delroy received Athlete of the Week honours for his performance in that game.
Fanshawe is coming off a 91-70 win over Redeemer (0-2, 9th West) behind third year guard Chris Stanhope and his game high 25 points.
These two teams met back in October, in the 38th Annual David Stewart Basketball Tournament. Fanshawe came away with a six point victory, 72-66. 5th year center Ryan Christie (Hamilton, ON) led the Knights with 15 points and 14 rebounds in the loss.
During the game, the Niagara College department of athletics and recreation will be raising money and awareness in support of Veterans Affairs Canada and the Royal Canadian Legion Fonthill Branch #613. Any spectator that makes a donation will receive a game program and poppy. The 2013 event raised $527.00.
Player watch:
Lequan Hylton (#7 Niagara): Ball movement and shot selection will be crucial for a Knights victory. The first year Mississauga native leads the team in assists and is always looking to get his teammates high percentage shots.
Chris Stanhope (#22 Fanshawe): The Recreation and Leisure major is currently 4th in the province in scoring, averaging 23.7 points per game.
Tip-off is set for 8:00pm at the Welland Campus Athletic Centre.
