Men's Basketball Fall to Redeemer

Men's Basketball Fall to Redeemer

Playing in their last regular season game before the break, the Niagara College men's basketball (3-6, 8th West) program went on the road to face the scorching hot Redeemer Royals (5-4, 5th West).  The Royals came into this matchup winning four straight games.

The Knights had lost two straight and were looking to end the first half of the regular season with a win.  The Knights looked like a team on a mission as they jumped out to a 21-14 lead, behind first year guard Lequan Hylton's (Mississauga) 11 first quarter points.

Redeemer outscored the Knights 20-19 in the second, as Niagara could not find their touch from behind the arc, shooting 0-8.  The third quarter saw the Knights score only eight points, easily a season low.  Trailing by eight heading into the fourth, Niagara was unable to climb back into the game.  Free throws have been a major problem for the Knights this season and that continued Thursday against Redeemer.  The Knights shot 1-13 from the charity stripe.

Despite the loss, first year forward Delroy Grandison (Kingston, JA) put together his best game as a Knight.  Recording his second career double double, Delroy set career highs with 24 points and 12 rebounds.  Lequan set a career best as well, dropping 17 points along with four rebounds and two assists.

The next OCAA regular season game for the Knights will be January 7 at home in a rematch against Mohawk College.
