PREVIEW: Knights seek fifth straight victory against tough Humber squad

PREVIEW: Knights seek fifth straight victory against tough Humber squad

The Niagara Knights men's volleyball program (9-2, 2nd OCAA West) welcome the Humber Hawks (7-3, 5th OCAA West) to the Welland Campus Athletic Centre on Wednesday night. The Knights are seeking their fifth win in as many matches.

Playing their third match in six days, Niagara will look to capitalize on their recent momentum when they take on the Hawks. Reigning athlete of the week Sameh Khodr (Kalamoun, Lebanon) contributed 30 points in two matches last week and will once again be leaned upon by the Knights to be a catalyst on offence. The six-foot-two outside hitter served phenomenally well and had the Knights opponents on their heels

Jeff Scott (Georgetown), who recently moved into second all-time on the Knights career points list, is only nine digs away from becoming the Niagara career digs list. With 412 career digs, he is within striking distance of the number one spot, which is currently held by Bailey Cochrane. Cochrane, who suited up for the Knights from 2013-15, amassed 420 digs in just 27 matches.  Scott, a fourth-year Pre Health Sciences student has racked up 129 points and 51 digs in 10 matches this season.

Since dropping a 3-2 loss to Humber on December 19th Niagara has won four straight matches, losing only three sets in the process. In their last meeting against Humber, the Knights dropped the first two sets before storming back before dropping the fifth and final set. All-time the Knights have a 10-19 record against the Hawks, with eight of the 10 victories coming on home court.

The match is scheduled to begin at 8:00 pm at the Welland Campus Athletic Centre. Tickets can be purchased at the door for $5.00 while students and those under the age of 17 are admitted free. The game will be streamed live at http://goknights.ca/watchlive
