Women's Volleyball to Open Season in Sudbury

The Niagara College women's volleyball program will open their 2013-14 regular season this weekend with a pair of road matches against the Boreal Vipers and Cambrian Golden Shield. Both teams are making their OCAA West Division debuts.

The 2013-14 Knights' women's volleyball program will look much different than the roster that took the court during the 2012-13 season. Among the departures are team MVP Jenna Bray, longtime setter Ava Sarkis, starting libero Corrie Hill, and former all-star outside hitter Lindsay Murray.

The Knights of 2013-14 are a young and athletic group. The team will be led by returning middle blocker and team captain Alex Botelho, versatile Kayde Bailey, veteran setter Kaylee Barber, and Libero Megan Henderson.

Joining the team are new recruits Maddi Morgan (Whitby) and Sami Bailey (Cambridge). Both players are powerful and athletic, and will be impact players for the Knights both this season and in years to come.

The Knights will open the season against the Boreal Vipers on Saturday, October 26th at 6:00pm, and will face a quick turnaround when the team faces the Cambrian Golden Shield on Sunday, October 27th at 12:00pm.

The Vipers finished the 2012-13 season with a record of 0-20 while Cambrian finished with an impressive record of 17-3.
