Botelho and Bailey Named OCAA All-Stars

Thursday, February 20th saw the announcement of the 2013-14 OCAA women's volleyball award winners at the OCAA Championship being held in Oshawa, Ontario. Two Knights earned individual accolades as veterans Alexandria Botelho and Kayde Bailey were OCAA Second-Team All-Stars. Both are first time all-star selections.

Niagara College women's volleyball head coach Joey Martins accompanied Botelho and Bailey to the awards banquet and commented "I am extremely proud of both Alexandria and Kayde and their individual accomplishments this season. Both have done an excellent job in helping with the development of our women's volleyball program."

Bailey is a second-year outside hitter currently enrolled in the Niagara College sport management program. The five-foot-eight native of Burlington enjoyed a breakout year for the Knights. She plays a well-rounded game that saw her lead the team in both kills (128) and digs (205). Bailey was named Niagara College athlete of the week on November 16th and was also named OCAA women's volleyball athlete of the week for the week of October 29th.

Botelho had an outstanding campaign for the Knights. The six-foot middle blocker served as team captain, and was an offensive and defensive catalyst all season. A native of Stoney Creek, Ontario, Botelho is currently enrolled in the Recreation and Leisure Services program. Botelho led the Knights in blocks (40) and points-per-set (2.6) this season. Botelho was has been named Niagara College athlete of the week on four occasions this year.

Both student-athletes were recognized on February 14th as a part of Knights Grad Night due to their commitment to academics and their upcoming graduation in April of 2014.
