Miller, Richardson named Knights Athletes of the Week for Sept 16-20

September 17, 2019... WELLAND - Dean Miller (2nd year, Port Colbourne) and Ceilidh Richardson (1st year, Welland) of the Niagara College men and women's soccer teams have been named the Knights Athletes of the Week, sponsored by NCSAC's The Core and The Armoury.

Despite his team sitting at an 0-2 record to start the season, Miller has had a personal best start for 2019-2020. Miller's development and patience as a rookie last year led him to the opportunity to have his chance to shine this year- and it's paying off in a big way.  In Friday night's 3-1 loss to Mohawk, Miller had his best game since joining the program last fall. On both sides of the ball, Miller played 90 minutes fully utilizing his speed, stamina and most importantly, his head. His performance this past weekend led him to be chosen at the NC Knight's Athlete of the Week.

Richardson joined the Knights this season as a local product of Welland and has been a consistent performer for head coach Rob Lalama. Richardson holds the line steady for the Knights at centre defense, and has been solid in her first two varsity games in her rookie season. Richardson is a reliable team mate and comes to work every game and practice. Although her team dropped a 2-0 decision to Mohawk the last friday night, her performance led her to be chosen as the NC Knights Athlete of the Week.

Miller, Richardson and the rest of the Knight's soccer teams will board the bus for their first road trip of the season, when they head west to Lambton College this Saturday afternoon.
