Women's Volleyball adds Alberta Recruit to Roster for 2020

May 27, 2020... WELLAND - The Niagara College Women's volleyball team has added their second recruit in as many days with the addition of Medicine Hat, Alberta native, Hannah Heidinger.

Heidinger will be heading to Ontario this fall to pursue her education at Niagara College in the General Business program, while continuing her volleyball career with the Knights women's program.

Opting to come to Niagara and compete in the Ontario Colleges Athletic Association (OCAA) instead of a post-secondary institution in Alberta, head coach Steve Dow says this is just a testament to the great things Niagara College offers potential student-athletes across the country.

"Having Hannah commit from Medicine Hat shows the quality of academic and athletic programs that Niagara College currently has," said Dow.

Besides the excitement of expanding his recruiting reach all the way out West, Dow is also looking forward to what Heidinger will bring to his sqaud in 2020.

"I am very excited to be bringing in Hannah to complement our team. Hannah is a hard working and athletic outside hitter that will challenge our group day in and day out. With a number of graduating OH's in our program this year, Hannah will be a big part of our program moving forward."

Heidinger is also looking forward to making the trek east to start the next chapter of her life.

"Throughout high school I have always been determined to achieve my goals to the highest standard in both my academics and volleyball career," said Heidinger. "I chose NC because I believe these attributes will be recognized and I will be able to utilize my talents and grow as an individual."
