February 28, 2019....NORTH BAY, Ont. - The Niagara College women's volleyball team had their season cut short on opening day of the 2020 women's volleyball championships, hosted by Canadore College in North Bay. The No. 4 nationally ranked Durham College women's volleyball team secured their spot in the OCAA semifinals following a straight sets victory over the Niagara Knights. Despite the sweep, all three sets kept fans on the edge of their seats with close scores of 25-23, 25-21 and 26-24.
The Knights entered the tournament as the fourth place seed with a 12-6 record and knocking off the Georgian Grizzlies in their cross-over game back on February 22. The Lords had come off a perfect 18-0 season entering provincials as the top seed from the east.
The early knock out also brings the program's medal count to a halt after going the last five of six OCAA Championship appearances with a medal.
