Knights Women's Volleyball Signs First Recruit for the 2020 Season With Local Eden HS Grad

May 25, 2020... WELLAND - The Niagara College Women's Volleyball team, has inked their first recruit for the 2020-2021 season with local product, Lauren Alguire.

Alguire will be graduating from Eden High School this June, and has spent the her high school career suiting up for the Flyers all four years. Alguire is also a member of the Niagara Rapids Club program.

The St. Catharines native will be filling the gap left by graduating liberos, Taylor Morrison and Ainsleigh Williams-a gap head coach Steve Dow has full confidence Alguire can step in to.

"Lauren is a local Niagara athlete who we believed flew under the radar," said Dow. "She has great body control and kinesthetic awareness. Lauren will be a great addition to our team and fill the depth we lost at Libero with our graduating athletes. I think if she competes day in and day out with our starting Lib, she will be a big part of our group this year as well as the years ahead."

Off the court, Alguire's career goals are to work with sport related injuries within the Niagara region, which led her to choose the Occupational Therapist Assistant and Physiotherapist Assistant program at Niagara College.

"I chose Niagara college because of the school's OTA/PTA program and my interest in the sciences," said Alguire. "Niagara is a great place to get the hands-on learning I want in my education, and I'm looking forward to joining the Knights volleyball program this season."
