December 5, 2019…Welland, ON – Niagara College Athletics and Niagara College School of Hospitality, Tourism and Sport is proud to present the NC Women's Coach School, taking place at Niagara College Welland Campus on December 14 - 15, 2019.

 Niagara College is proud to bring NC Women's Coach School to Welland, ON for the first time, offering a unique opportunity to women in sport. The NC Women's Coach School is the first entry-level coach certification of its kind.

 Learning facilitators, assigned by the sport governing bodies, will lead the entry-level coach certification for volleyball, basketball and soccer. This initiative is an example of NC's collaboration with provincial and national sport organizations and governing bodies which include Ontario Basketball, Canada Basketball, Ontario Volleyball, Volleyball Canada, Canada Soccer and Ontario Soccer.

 "We know that sport is a community grower. NC's Women in Sport strategy is a way to build capacity for the growth of sport leadership," said Michele O'Keefe, associate director, Athletics and Recreation. "We want to empower women of all ages to see a viable path to success – both personally and professionally – in sport."

The two day event will also feature guest speakers; Chris Critelli, former Olympian and published author of "That's My Coach" (Saturday, December 14), Dale Melnick, high performance athlete -turned- coach and Sabrina D'Angelo, a current Canadian Soccer National team member and Welland native (Sunday, December 15).

 

Courses Available:

Basketball- Learn to Train

Volleyball- Development Coach Workshop

Soccer- Learn to Train

*Courses will run both days 9:00 a.m. - 6:00 p.m.
