Saturday, February 28^th saw the Niagara College women's basketball (11-7, 5^th west) program head on the road to face the Loyalist Lancers (8-8, 4^th East) in the 2014-15 OCAA playoff qualifier.  In front of a hostile crowd, the Knights stayed true to form as of late and defeated the Lancers 64-49.  Niagara jumped out to a five point lead to start the contest and controlled the game from there. 

The win sees the Knights advance to the OCAA championship for the first time since the 2010-11 season and will now play a tough Humber Hawks (17-1, 1^st West) in the quarter-finals. 

"We started this game off well, with terrific focus and intensity," said Niagara College women's basketball head coach Mike Beccaria.  "In the second quarter we switched to a zone defence and took off from there."

The Knights went into half with a comfortable 11 point lead and really cruised from there.

First year forward Courtney McPherson recorded another double double, finishing the game with 15 points and 16 rebounds.

"Courtney McPherson was absolutely dominant for us tonight," added coach Beccaria.  "She was a major factor in the victory today."

Team captain Miranda Ross (St. Catharines) and fourth year forward Kaitlyn McPherson (Welland) both finished the game with 13 points. 

In the end, eight Knights' players ended up on the score sheet, displaying a complete team effort in the win.

The Knights will now head to Scarborough to participate in the 2014-15 OCAA Championship hosted by Centennial College.  The tournament will run from March 5^th to March 7^th.
