Friday, March 6th saw the Niagara College women's basketball program eliminated from the 2015 OCAA championship after suffering a hard fought 77-61 loss to the St. Clair Saints. The win puts an end to the Knights 2014-15 season, a campaign that saw the team win 11 games and qualify for the OCAA Championship for the first time in four years.

The Knights stormed out of the gate, leading by as many as 13 points in the opening quarter. The team seemed to run out of gas as the game wore on however and a cold shooting second quarter saw Niagara dig too deep a hole to claw themselves out.

"We didn't have our best game today" said Niagara College women's basketball head coach Mike Beccaria. "St. Clair is a very strong and well coached team. We simply ran out of gas. Overall this season was a great expereience for our program, and we made significant strides in the right direction."

For the second consecutive game rookie forward Courtney McPherson paced the Knights. On the heels of being named OCAA Rookie of the year, the Welland native finished with game highs in points and rebounds finishing with 27 and 13 respectively.

The Early Childhood Education student was named the Knights' player of the game for the second consecutive time.

Playing in her final game in a Knights uniform, second-year point guard Anna Jaworowicz (Midland) turned in one of her strongest games of the season. The sport management major finished an impressive three of six from three point range for nine points while also adding three assists.

"We have a great group of student-athletes" continued Beccaria. "We competed hard in every game this season and really showed an ability to compete with anyone in this league. Everyone should be proud of their accomplishments this season."
