RECAP: Women's Volleyball earn split against Sudbury opponents

November 7th and 8th saw the Niagara College women's volleyball program travel to Sudbury for a pair of road matches against the Cambrian Golden Shield and Boreal Vipers. Saturday saw the Knights fall three sets to none to Cambrian, before rallying for a sweep of Boreal on Sunday.

Looking to avenge a loss in last season's OCAA Championship quarterfinal against Cambrian the Knights never found their game against a talented Golden Shield side. The Knights, who had only dropped two sets heading into the match, found themselves on the wrong end on a 25-14, 26-24, 25-19 sweep.

The team was faced with a short turnaround, as just 18 hours later, the Knights lined up against the Boreal Vipers. The team seemed to shake the issues showed against Cambrian and secured the solid 25-19, 25-7, 25-15 victory.

The Knights got significant contribution from a pair of first-year players in middle Kaitlynn Whiteley (Niagara Falls) and outside hitter Nicole Abbott (Burlington).  Both players finished with an effective five points in three sets.

The Knights will look to stay in the win column on Saturday, November 14th when they host the Sheridan Bruins (1-3) at 1:00pm at the Welland Athletic Centre. Admission is free for all Niagara College students and those under the age of 17. For those unable to be in attendance, all Niagara Knights homes games are live streamed at www.goknights.ca/watchlive.
