RECAP: Knights drop to 5-2 with loss to Hawks

Thursday, November 19th saw the Niagara College women's volleyball program (5-2) travel to Etobicoke to take on the eight time defending OCAA Champion Humber Hawks (6-0). The Knights never found their rhythm in the contest and were defeated three sets to none. The set scores in the contest were 25-16, 25-17, 25-16.

The biggest factor in the match proved to be the Knights inability to contain the service game of the powerhouse Hawks. The Humber side finished with a dominant 17 service aces in the game. "We struggled on our serve receive all match" said Niagara College women's volleyball head coach Joey Martins. "They served the ball aggressively which put us in trouble and in turn we simply could not run an offense efficiently."

A trio of Knights in Jasmine Thome (Kenora), Rachel Rivers (Cambridge), and Devon Lowes (Oakville) paced the team finishing with five points each.

The loss drops the Knights to 5-2 on the season into third place in the talented OCAA West Division. The Knights will have a full week of rest before the team travels to Hamilton to take on the 2-4 Mohawk Mountaineers. The team will return to the Welland athletic centre on December 3rd when they host the Redeemer Royals at 6:00pm.
