RECAP: Knights women's volleyball improve to 6-2

Saturday, November 28th saw the Niagara College women's volleyball program improve to 6-2 on the season with an impressive three-set road victory over the Mohawk Mountaineers. The set scores in the contest were 25-19, 25-16, 25-24.

"We executed really well today" said Niagara College women's volleyball head coach Joey Martins. "I thought we were really focused on our side of the net today and it showed with the result."

Second year setter Bailey Davis (Georgetown) called an efficient and effective offense for her team, as all three of Linnea Davis (Brampton), Rachel Rivers (Cambridge), and Jasmine Thome (Kenora)  finished with a game high 10 points. Rivers led the team in kills with ten, while Thome turned in an all-around effort notching three kills, four aces, and three blocks.

Thome was named the Niagara College female athlete of the week, marking the first time the exercise science for health and performance student has earned the accolade.

The Knights now sit in fourth place in the OCAA West division (with two less games played). The team will wrap up the first half of their 2015-16 season on Thursday, November 3rd when they host the 4-4 Redeemer Royals at 6:00pm at the Welland campus athletic centre. Admission is free for all students, and for those unable to be in attendance, all Knights home games are live broadcasted at www.goknights.ca/watchlive.
