Niagara College men's volleyball head coach Nathan Groenveld commented "our entire roster fought hard a played well all weekend. With how competitive the OCAA West Division is going to be this year, our goal in the pre-season is to compete in every match while making sure everyone plays, stays healthy, and stays fresh heading into the regular season."

The Knights earned victories over the Limoilu Titans, Trent Excalibur, and the Durham Lords.

The marquee matchup for the Knights in the event was the Friday evening game against the perennial powerhouse Limoilou Titans. The Titans are the reigning RSEQ men's volleyball champions. The Knights proved up to the challenge defeating Limoilou two sets to none.

The Knights defeated the host Durham College Lords 2-0 to secure the bronze medal. The Humber Hawks defeated the George Brown Huskies to secure the tournament championship.

Outside hitter Daniel Groenveld (Welland) was named a tournament all-star for his performance in the two-day event. Groenveld is in his first season with the Knights after spending the previous two years as a member of the McMaster Marauders.

Overall Coach Groenveld was pleased with his team's performance at the annual event adding "our defense all weekend was strong, and this is something we will continue to rely on and improve as the season progresses." He continued "the preseason provides us with the opportunity to measure where we are at, and allows us to make some adjustments and preparations for the regular season."

The Knights will return to the court on Wednesday, October 16th when the team hosts the Durham Lords at 8:00pm at the Welland Campus Athletic Centre.

The Niagara College men's volleyball program will open their regular season on Saturday, October 26th when the team travels to Sudbury to take on the Boreal College Vipers.
