Men's Volleyball Defeat Bruins

Men's Volleyball Defeat Bruins

Wednesday night, saw the Niagara College men's volleyball program improve to 10-0 on the season, after edging out the Sheridan Bruins on the road, three sets to one. The set scores for the hard fought matchup were 17-25, 27-25, 25-22 and 25-23.

Niagara College men's volleyball head coach Nathan Groenveld credited the Bruins performance in the match, calling his opponents defense "lights out" and acknowledging that Sheridan "dug everything we hit at them."

Leading the way offensively for the Knights was third-year outside hitter Daniel Groenveld. The six-foot-four Welland native added 15 kills to his OCAA leading totals. Defensively, first-year libero Bailey Cochrane continued his outstanding play for the Knights, finishing with a team high 17 digs.

Coach Groenveld added "overall I thought we did a great job of maintaining composure and continuing to battle in less than ideal circumstances. I was proud of the way our guys handled Sheridan's defensive pressure and how we fought hard to come away with the two points tonight."

The Knights will face a short turnaround as the team will have just one day off before facing the Conestoga Condors on Friday night at 8:00pm at the Welland Campus Athletic Centre. Admission is free for all students and for those unable to be in attendance, all Niagara College varsity games are streamed live at www.ocaatv.com.
