#2 Ranked Knights Named Team of the Week

Tuesday, December 10th saw the Niagara College men's volleyball program selected as the OCAA Team of the Week. The Knights are the lone undefeated team in the OCAA having entered the mid-season break with an impressive 9-0 record.

The Knights have lost just seven sets in their nine matches, they sit atop the OCAA standings with 18 points, are the OCAA's #1 ranked team, and the CCAA's #2 ranked team.

The 2013-14 season marks the best start for a Niagara College men's volleyball program since 2000-01, a season that saw the Knights finish undefeated.

Niagara College men's volleyball head coach Nathan Groenveld commented "it's an honour for our program to be selected by the OCAA. We had a strong first half and got the results we needed."  He continued "the OCAA West is very competitive, and every match matters. We need to continue our process and keep developing as a program for the second half of the season."

Including the pre-season the Knights have won 14 straight matches including a gold medal performance at the Seneca Sting Challenge, and have earned victories over the CCAA's #13 ranked Fanshawe Falcons and #3 ranked Humber Hawks.

The Knights will return to action on January 3rd for the annual Niagara College Invitational men's volleyball tournament.

This year's field is one of the strongest the two-day event's history, and includes the CIS's Toronto Varsity Blues, three top-15 teams in the CCAA in the Algonquin Thunder (#7), Fanshawe Falcons (#13) and George Brown Huskies (#15), the OCAA East Division leading Durham Lords, the St. Clair Saints, and the Georgian Huskies.
