Friday night saw the CCAA's #4 ranked Niagara College men's volleyball program improve to 11-0 on the season after defeating the Conestoga Condors in three sets at the Welland Campus Athletic Centre. The set scores in the contest were 25-20, 25-18, 25-18.

The Knights utilized the majority of their roster in the contest as 11 players dressed for the match saw significant playing time.

After the match, Knights head coach Nathan Groenveld felt rookie setter James Clendenning gave the team his best effort of the 2013-14 season. "James played very well for us tonight. He allowed us to run a really effective and well-rounded offense."

Clendenning, is a native of Sudbury and provides the Knights with size and strength from the setter position. The six-foot-four Pre-Health Sciences student finished the match with a game high 21 assists.

All three of the Knights middle blockers also turned in strong performances for Niagara. "Matt Scott, Travis Waite, and Logan Varga all did a great job holding and limiting their middle blockers, giving our outside hitters great chances to score" added Coach Groenveld.

The Knights currently sit atop the OCAA rankings and standings and are the last team in the province with an undefeated record.

The team will return to action on Thursday, January 16th when they travel to Mohawk to take on the 6-4 Mountaineers. The Knights will return to the Welland Campus Athletic Centre on Sunday, January 19th at 3:00pm for arguably their biggest game of the 2013-14 season, when they host the OCAA's second place Humber Hawks (8-1).
