Men's Volleyball to Open OCAA Championships

Men's Volleyball to Open OCAA Championships

Thursday, February 20th will see the Niagara College men's volleyball program take part in the 2014 OCAA Men's Volleyball Championship being hosted by Georgian College. The three-day event will see the top-eight teams in the OCAA compete for the right to represent Ontario at the CCAA men's volleyball national championship.

The Knights (14-4) enter the event as the OCAA West Division's third seed, and will play the East Division's second seeded Durham Lords (16-2) at 6:00pm on Thursday. The winner will advance to the semi-finals and will await the victor of the Humber Hawks and Georgian Grizzlies matchup taking place at 8:00pm.

The Knights will look to improve on their 2013 performance that saw the team enter the Championship as the number one seed, before being defeated in the opening round by the Nipissing Lakers. The Knights finished fourth overall in 2014.

The event will also see the OCAA individual awards handed out at the annual OCAA awards banquet on Friday morning.

Due to Ontario's performance at the last three CCAA National Championships, Ontario's top-two teams will receive entry into the 2014 CCAA National Championships being hosted by Briercrest College from March 5-7.
