Men's Volleyball Lose to Durham

The Niagara College men's volleyball program was eliminated from OCAA gold medal contention on Thursday night, suffering a hard fought five-set loss to the Durham Lords. The set scores in the contest were 20-25, 25-12, 25-14, 24-26, 16-14.

The Knights took the court strong in the opening set looking deserving of their #10 CCAA ranking. The team however seemed to lose their rhythm over the next four sets, and the net and back court defense of the Lords proved to be the difference in the spirited affair.

The Lords were led by recently named OCAA All-Star Brad vanHartingsveldt who finished with 14 kills, three aces, and three blocks. The Knights offensive attack was led by 2013-14 CCAA All-Canadian Daniel Groenveld, who finished with 18 kills, an ace, and a block

The loss relegates the Knights to the Bronze medal bracket of the OCAA Championship. The team will now face the hometown Georgian Grizzlies in the Bronze medal quarterfinals on Friday afternoon at 3:00pm.
