Men's Volleyball Fall to 12-4

Men's Volleyball Fall to 12-4

The Niagara College men's volleyball program suffered their fourth loss of the season on Sunday, as the team dropped a hard fought five-set road match to St. Clair Saints. The loss moves the Knights to 12-4 on the season and into a three-way tie for second place in the extremely talented OCAA West Division.

The set scores in the contest were 25-20, 22-25, 25-22, 21-25 and 15-11.

The Knights leading scorer in the contest was outside hitter Daniel Groenveld (Welland). Groenveld finished with a match-high 21 points on 20 kills and a service ace.

After the match, Niagara College women's volleyball head coach Nathan Groenveld commented "we had a tough time dealing with St Clair's size and physicality all night. They served extremely well and added a ton of blocks. I didn't think we did a good job of our choices offensively, and I felt that we tried to force certain things to happen."

The Knights will host the Boreal Vipers and Cambrian Golden Shield on February 8th and 9th respectively. The team will be looking to end the season on a high note after struggling in recent weeks in the wake of several starting players being out of the lineup with nagging injuries.

Friday night's match versus the Boreal Vipers will get underway at 8:00pm at the Welland Campus Athletic Centre.
