Male Athlete of the Week - Jeff Scott
Jeff Scott of the Niagara College men’s volleyball program (3-0) has been selected as this week’s male athlete of the week. Scott was outstanding during the Knights three-set sweep over the visiting St. Clair Saints on Sunday, November 3rd.
The reigning Ontario College Athletic Association rookie of the year typically plays the leftside position, but due to the unavailability of some of his teammates was playing out of position on the rightside.
The six-foot-four native of Georgetown had an outstanding game, keeping the Saints off guard with his dominant service game. Scott finished the contest with eight kills, two stuff blocks, and a service ace.
Niagara College men’s volleyball head coach Nathan Groenveld commented “against St. Clair, Jeff’s service game gave us a comfortable lead when we needed it. His development as a global player has been very impressive and he showed tonight he is a top performer and competitor.”
Scott and the rest of the Niagara College men’s volleyball program will resume action on Thursday, November 7th when the team travels to Humber College to take on the undefeated Hawks.
Female Athlete of the Week - Mary Ingribelli
Mary Ingribelli of the Niagara College women’s basketball program has been selected as this week’s female athlete of the week. Ingribelli was instrumental in helping the Knights improve to 3-0 during the team’s 69-57 victory over the Fanshawe falcons.
Against Fanshawe, the five-foot-nine guard and native of St. Catharines finished with a game high 19 points while also adding five rebounds and three assists.
A first-year student-athlete, Ingribelli is a graduate of Governor Simcoe Secondary school, and is currently enrolled the Niagara College Police Foundations program.
Ingribelli and the rest of the Niagara College women’s basketball program will resume action on Friday, November 8th when the team hosts the 3-1 Sheridan College Bruins at the Welland Campus Athletic Centre. Tip-off is set for 6:00pm.
